Matt and Paige Waanders currently serve with Cru at The Ohio State University. Cru is a college ministry that connects students to Jesus (especially those who do not yet have a relationship with him), builds into their faith through mentorship, Bible studies, and weekly worship services, and sends students out into the world to live lives that reflect Christ.
We believe college is one of the most influential seasons of someone’s life. Our prayer is to influence college students to walk with God for a life time. Paige currently serves as the Women’s Ministry director, and oversees all of the staff women and women’s student ministry. Matt serves as the weekly meeting (worship service) director. He also disciples a small group of students and leads a weekly Bible study for them. During the school year we usually have around 30 college student leaders in our living room for a Bible Study, every Monday night! We are truly grateful for your prayers and financial support!
They have two sons- Will (2019) and Jack (2021).

Italy
When we tell people we are missionaries in Rome, Italy. They smile, laugh and say we must enjoy amazing pizza and view of the landscape all the time. When in reality, there is less than 1 percent evangelicals in all of Italy. The spiritual heaviness from past generations is a lot for new believers to move forward with new dreams and goals for their churches and personal lives.
We moved to Italy in January 2018, we have been so blessed to watch the church plants start, new ministries start, and mentoring/discipleship take place. My (Jessica) official title is Artist in Residence with a non-profit organization. Our team is spread all over Italy, but we live here in Rome. We provide workshops for evangelical artists in the church to equip them with tools on how to support their church with the arts to reach people. We just opened our first studio space in the center of Rome. Where we put on workshops, future conferences, and provide mentorship for the artists. We also help out with a community art group, where evangelicals and non-evangelicals work together. Resources are hard for Italians to get in the Italian language. So, I want to help provide resources for the church to support their people better. This year we will be publishing a devotional book for artists and Bryan will be publishing a children's book. Through the beauty of all God has done, there have been days when it is very hard. So, we speak over our family Psalm 16:11, "In your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand, there is pleasure forevermore." People need to see God is good, He is full or joy and forgiveness.

SOUTH ASIA
Dustin & Angela (D&A) moved to South Asia after the realization of God’s heart for the nations: “…people from every nation, all tribes and peoples and languages standing before the throne and before the Lamb…” – Revelation 7:9. However, this truth has not yet come to pass.
There are still entire people groups NOT represented around Christ’s throne. D&A initially desired to go to a more “amenable” region of the world, yet the facts related to lost regions in the world did not care about their feelings. They were compelled to go to the lost, against any fleshly desire and against the wisdom of men. Facts showed that a region of the world called the 10/40 window is where 96% of unreached people groups live and where the church needs to focus its global evangelistic efforts, yet as a whole, it is neglecting its Great Commission. D&A could not neglect this reality any longer. They found that the global church is sending nearly 97% of its missionaries to reached nations – nations who have a healthy, growing church that can evangelize the rest of its people groups (those nations are not in the 10/40 window). They began to ask themselves: so, 3.39 BILLION unreached people who live in the 10/40 window only get 3% of the church’s sent missionaries? That was crazy to them. They found that on average, only 6% of church donations goes to global missions. And of that 6%, only about 1.7% goes to unreached people groups (UPGs, unique groups of people that lack a community of Christians able to evangelize the rest of the group). Clearly put, only 0.102% of all church finances go to the most unreached, lost, populated, and underserved areas of the world. We are sending our people and our finances to reached nations and leaving the lost to their own demise. Once these facts had been seen, they could not unsee them.
D&A never felt “called” (and still do not) to a people group, a country, a language, a religion or anything like this. Upon a deep study of God’s heart for all peoples, they felt “called” to simply be obedient to what He has been desiring since Genesis: that all nations would be blessed (i.e. reach salvation through His Son). This is not a new Matthew 28 teaching, it has always been His heart! As such, D&A focused on the 10/40 window due to it having the greatest need for the Gospel. From there they identified South Asia as the most lost area within the 10/40 window. Within South Asia, they identified the most unreached nation. From within the most unreached nation, they found a few missionaries they could link arms with who live in one of the highest concentrations of UUPGs in the world: this meant that this area would be arguably the darkest place on earth. They decided if they have but one small candlelight of a life to burn, they should burn it in an area where it could mean the most amidst the darkness. Then they moved, never visiting or touching foot in this country before they arrived with three small children. For the sake of the lost, and so that His glory might go into all the world.
Their primary focus is to locate people groups that have no known gospel work being done in them and see healthy reproducing churches planted. They help lead an exploration division that sends out both expats and nationals all over South Asia to find where these people groups are because, as of now, no one knows their actual location. Simply through government census’ do we know they exist. So, in order for the Gospel to go to them, D&A find and identify them, and partner with regional missionaries or national partners to adopt these people groups to get the Gospel to them. “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” Romans 10:14-15

Our mission involves providing safe spaces and un-rushed time for spiritually thirsty people to have life-changing encounters with God. We use beautifully crafted settings, artistic expressions, life-affirming teachings from the Word, real life stories, Reflective Stations and prayer ministry to set a space for the Holy Spirit to draw people into deeper intimacy with the Father. Our retreats and outreaches take place wherever the “Wind” of God blows, be it locally, domestically, or internationally.

Europe, despite its historical Christian roots, currently faces significant spiritual needs, marked by widespread secularism, atheism, and a general disinterest in traditional faith, leaving many searching for meaning and purpose. The evangelical population, on average, is less than 3%. European Christian Mission (ECM) is working to change this statistic by focusing primarily on church planting and church development across 25 European countries, (currently working towards opening 3 new fields). ECM aims to establish and strengthen the evangelical presence across Europe.
Kent and Angie’s roles are working in Mobilization and Member Care.
Mobilization:
Mobilization in missions is the process of inspiring, educating, and equipping all Christians to participate in global evangelization, whether by going to the mission field, praying, giving, or sending. It helps the church in fulfilling the Great Commission, ensuring that more people and resources are committed to sharing the gospel in unreached areas and strengthening existing Christian communities. Some examples of how we do this by visiting Christian campuses, offering free mentoring in missions, and by sharing the needs and opportunities to serve in Europe with ECM.
Member Care:
Angie serves on the Member Care Leadership Team and Kent heads this team for the mission. This entails guiding and shaping ECM’s member care program. Member care is a comprehensive approach dedicated to supporting the spiritual and emotional health of our missionaries. The goal is to help missionaries thrive in their calling and prevent challenges such as accumulated unprocessed grief, burnout, and depression. With 70% of missionary attrition being preventable through effective member care, this area of missions is vital to the health, well-being, and longevity of missionaries.
One aspect of member care we offer is personal debriefing. This type of debriefing is a process designed to help missionaries and their families reflect on, process, and integrate their experiences of serving overseas. This process provides a safe environment for them to assess their current well-being, reframe their narrative, and help them "off load” some of the weight they carry, allowing them to return lighter and re-energized for their next term of service. It's an important part of missionaries' long-term health and vitality.

Tom and Robyn founded The Center for Biblical Living (CBL) in 2018 to serve the local church by providing biblical counseling and care to ministry leaders around the world. Beyond counseling week to week, Tom serves as the Executive Director leading a great team of administrators and counselors.
CBL counseling reaches around the world through telehealth type counseling appointments with missionaries, pastors, ministry organization leaders, and seminary students. CBL partners with a number of church planting and mission organizations and has a long partnership with The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where the Scotts live and CBL is headquartered. Tom and Robyn have three adult daughters: Brooklyn (Nick) Brewer, Kylie (Grayson) Munday, and Jadyn (Zeb) Borland. They gladly welcomed their first grandchild, Grady Christopher Munday on June 9, 2025. We are tremendously thankful for the relationship with AEC. Thank you for all these many years of partnership.
In April of 2019, an official partnership called the Africa Church Planting Initiative (ACPI) was launched with the goal of capacitating indigenous leaders to bring the gospel to rural African villages through planting sustainable, reproducing churches and fostering economic development by launching small, profitable businesses. The first churches were planted in Mozambique in early August 2019. By the end of May 2022, there were 34 church plants in five countries: Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Botswana. Future projections include plants in locations such as Madagascar, Kenya, and Uganda.
Basque Country
Located in north central Spain and southwest France, Basque Country is home to about 3 million people who have a strong sense of identity, are industrious and hardworking, and posses a desire for freedom. Multiple languages are spoken within this autonomous people group, but the mainstream line of thinking is that, to be Basque is to speak the Basque language (approx. 1 million people).
Our church has participated in hosting students from the Basque Country for several summers. This is a great way to show hospitality, Christ’s love, and to serve by helping students improve their English.
Spiritually, the Basque Country is very much in need of true Christ followers. To learn more about the Basque Country and the Basque team, visit fecministries.org.
